New Rolls-Royce Ghost to launch in 2020

British motor car manufacturer Rolls-Royce is an icon among luxury cars known for their timeless design and perfection. Each and every Rolls-Royce car is hand built in southern England at their Goodwood facility. Rolls-Royce has become the most recognizable brands in the world with their luxurious limos the Phantom, Ghost, Wraith, Dawn & Cullinan SUV.

Rolls-Royce is now preparing the new-generation Rolls-Royce Ghost, spied testing around the Goodwood facility in England. The new Ghost is expected to roll out in the year 2020.

The new Ghost which is still under development will share its platform with the Phantom and its engine is said to be sourced from the BMW 760 Li. The current Ghost has a steel monocoque chassis which may be replaced by an aluminum space frame which will not only help in reducing the weight of the car but also improve its rigidity. The weight improvement will also help Rolls-Royce add more insulation and other equipment. The weight will also show benefits in fuel economy.

The new 2020 Rolls-Royce Ghost will retain its design elements such as rear-hinged rear doors but will certainly be equipped with new laser headlights and LED tail lights.

Most of the engine performance testing and mechanical testing on the 2020 Rolls-Royce Ghost is being taken place at the BMW’s German facility and not in Goodwood England, suggesting the BMW’s shared engine from the BMW 760 Li X-Drive. The engine is expected to be a 6.6-litre, twin-turbocharged, V12 producing a maximum output of 585 HP of power and 849 Nm of torque coupled to a fast shifting 8-speed gearbox and may get four-wheel drive.

The 2020 Rolls-Royce Ghost may adopt some technological functions from the Rolls-Royce Phantom and Cullinan, such as four-wheel steering, an active anti-roll system and a 48V electrical architecture.

The interiors are expected to have clean, contemporary and elegant design. Signature style with rich materials and fluidic elements are to be expected. A large touch screen Infotainment system and modernized digital dials may come into effect on the 2020 Rolls-Royce Ghost.
