Nissan has unveiled its new Kicks SUV ahead of the official debut at the New York Motor Show 2024. The new model is a significant upgrade from its predecessor, boasting a larger size, more powerful engine, and newly optional all-wheel drive.
The new Nissan Kicks shares numerous features with the Mitsubishi X-Force, a popular model in markets such as Indonesia. The upcoming Kicks seems inspired by the ASEAN market Mitsubishi XForce, featuring an almost identical exterior, front fascia, and side profile. It also gets an XForce-inspired glasshouse, offering a stylish coupe-like tapering roofline, a fully LED headlight setup with eye-catching Day Time Running lights (DRLs).
The new Kicks gets fresh styling inside out. Some of the body panels of the stylish new Nissan Kicks including the doors, roof, and a few other things are common with the XForce SUV. It gets chunky looking wheel arches with matte black body cladding all around with top variants getting huge 19-inch alloy wheels that look straight out of a concept car.
On the inside, Nissan says the new Kicks gets more premium materials than before. The center of attraction is the large 12.3 inch infotainment screen among other features. The dashboard has a double layered look like the Xforce but the quality of materials on the new Kicks like the AC vents and even the screen looks better than the Mitsubishi counterpart.
The sole powertrain is a 141-hp 2.0-liter inline-four that’s also found in the Sentra compact sedan, and it uses a continuously variable automatic transmission. This should provide better acceleration than the old Kicks’ wimpy 1.6-liter mill. Front-wheel drive is standard, as was the case before, but all-wheel drive is now optional on all trim levels.
The new Nissan Kicks is a small crossover transformed. Not only does it look far more modern than before, it also grows in size significantly and offers a larger engine and a newly available all-wheel-drive option. The new 2025 Nissan Kicks is expected to go on sale in the U.S. in late summer of this year. There is no clarity if it will come to India.
