Mitsubishi could be working on the Pajero Sport SUV in the international market. A prototype of the test mule has been spotted road testing abroad which leads us to believe that the SUV could be introduced soon. This is the first time the Pajero Sport has been spied testing and the mule appears to be fully camouflaged. Expect the new Mitsubishi Pajero to make its market debut in early 2026.
According to reports, the test mule is an early prototype and the project is still in the developmental stage. Reports reveal that the test mule could be using the Mitsubishi Triton body for testing and the final product is likely to have a completely different fascia. Reports also reveal that the prototype features rather large wheel wells and this could be because, underneath, there could be a completely new chassis.
The mule features an upright stance with a large bonnet and a robust grille. While the light signatures could be similar to the Triton, the next-generation Pajero Sport could go with a similar design and be equally imposing. Also, the Pajero Sport is likely to come with a large greenhouse and an upswept, tapering quarter glass. The SUV is also likely to come with vertical taillamps and well as a large boot lid. In addition to this, the Pajero Sport could come with ample clearances on the approach, breaker and departure angles to make it off road capable. However, reports do not reveal if the Pajero Sport will come with a 4×4 drive train.
Speculation is that the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is likely to come with a the same engine that powers the Triton. Powering the Triton is a 2.4-litre 4-cylinder twin-turbocharged oil motor that produces 201 Hp of power and 470 Nm of torque. Mitsubishi is likely to offer a four-wheel drivetrain with this engine, although nothing is confirmed yet.
