Alto is one of the most successful marques of Maruti Suzuki that made its inception nearly two decades ago. The Maruti Suzuki Alto has found more than 40 lakh houses in India. The brand has also given the Maruti Suzuki Alto regular updates to keep the car fresh. Now the brand is planning to revamp the Maruti Suzuki Alto for the Indian market completely.
The next-generation Alto is codenamed YOM. The brand is now in advanced stages of developments as images of the test mule have appeared on the internet, testing public roads. The brand had also planned to launch the YOM, which will be the next-generation Alto, by mid-2021. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the brand could have delayed its plans to 2022.
The next-generation Maruti Suzuki Alto will come with a completely refreshed front and rear fascia. The car will also come with redesigned interiors. Also, the brand is likely to update the upholstery and add a new infotainment system to the new Alto. Thanks to advanced interior design techniques and trim optimisation, the car is also likely to be roomier on the inside.
The Maruti Suzuki YOM is likely to come with the same BS6 compliant 796cc three-cylinder petrol engine. The engine makes 47 Hp of power and 69 Nm of torque. The engine also comes with a 5-speed manual transmission. The current Alto also gets a factory-fitted CNG kit. We are not sure at this time if the kit will continue to sell on the YOM.
Maruti Suzuki is getting ready to launch the next-generation Celerio. Images of the patent design have leaked on the internet, which leads us to believe that the Celerio is likely to launch by the festive season of 2021.
