New Jeep Compass in India would get electric option

Jeep could be planning to introduce a new electric vehicle in the Indian market, in the near future. The new electric SUV is likely to be the fully-electric Jeep Compass. Reports suggest that the electric Jeep Compass is likely to arrive in the Indian market as early as 2026. The next-generation model is currently under development and the electric version is also likely to make its debut along with the next-generation Jeep Compass.

New Jeep Compass Could Get STLA Medium Platform?

Media reports reveal that the all-electric version of the next-generation Jeep Compass is likely to be codenamed J4u. In addition to this, reports also reveal that the brand will be using the Stellantis STLA Medium Platform for the electric Jeep Compass. The brand revealed the STLA Medium Platform in July 2023 and is capable of accommodating ICE as well as electric powertrains.

New Jeep Compass Electric – Performance, Range, Charging, Efficiency

According to Stellantis, the STLA Medium Platform is capable of accommodating two electric drive modules. Thanks to this, the platform could get both front wheel drive as well as all-wheel drive options. Also, the power output range on the STLA Medium is between 160 kW to 285 kW. Furthermore, the battery pack on the platform can accommodate upto a 98 kWh battery. This will enable a range of over 700 km in the WLTP cycle (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure).

Stellantis the parent company of Jeep also claims an energy efficiency of less than 14 kWh/100 km. The platform also comes with a 400V charging power. The brand claims that from 20% SOC (State of Charge) to 80% SOC it takes just 27 minutes to charge at the rate of 2.4 kWh/minute.

Currently Jeep produces its vehicles in three plants – Hosur, Thiruvallur and Ranjangaon. However, it is not yet clear where the brand is likely to produce the Jeep Compass with the STLA Medium Platform. More about the new Jeep Compass Electric is likely to be revealed in the near future, so stay tuned.
