Undoubtedly one of the best-selling and easily recognisable executive sedan cars in the world is the Honda Civic. Now in its 10th generation, the brand has revealed that it is working to introduce the 11th generation Civic in the international market. The prototype of the 11th Generation Honda Civic will be unveiled on the 17th November 2020 and the series-production model is expected to see its market-launch in 2021.
The brand has teased the 2021 Honda Civic in bits and pieces that just give us a glimpse of what to expect in the near future. The 11th generation sedan is expected to be more modern in terms of its design and styling. While the teaser does not reveal much the Civic is expected to come with a more upright front fascia, new headlamps with new daylight running light signatures with inverted tick-mark LEDs, which reverberate with the rear end, wider headlamp and taillamp units, gloss black finished 5-twin-spoke alloy wheels.
The brand has not yet revealed any details on the powertrain or the interiors of the new generation Honda Civic. But the 10th generation model which is available in the Indian market features a BS6 emissions-compliant 1.8-litre four-cylinder i-VTEC 16-valve SOHC motor that churns out 141 PS of power and 174 Nm of torque coupled to an automatic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) gearbox. Optionally the Civic in India is also available with a new BS6 standard 1.6-litre i-DTEC turbo-diesel engine the makes 120 PS of power and 300 Nm of torque paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
On 21 August 2020, the Australian Government Intellectual Property Department published the design patents of an executive sedan under the ownership of Honda Motor Co. with the Design Search folio no. 202012848 which resembles the new teaser images that have been officially released by the brand.
The current-generation Honda Civic in the Indian market is priced starting INR 17.94 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi in the BS6 petrol avatar and the Honda Civic diesel is priced starting at INR 20.74 lakh.
