New-gen Hyundai Creta – what to expect?

As reported online, a new generation model of Creta is currently under development. Hyundai is calling it SX3 internally and it will be based on the current platform of the car, but with a reworked frame. Additionally, it will feature a brand new cabin design which will be more aligned with the top shelf products like the Ioniq 9.

Hyundai will carry on the current powertrain options with the new generation Creta. The current engine options include – a 1.5-litre NA petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. However, there are rumours that a new petrol-hybrid engine will also be offered along with these powertrains.

Hyundai recently introduced the Creta Electric in India and as far as the report states, it will also get a mid-life facelift in 2027. We are expecting that the Creta Electric facelift will feature an identical design language to the upcoming generation of the Creta ICE model.

Creta happens to be the best-selling SUV in India currently as Hyundai has sold over 18,000 units in January 2025 itself. This is a testament to the compact SUV segment where the competitors are struggling to cross the 10,000 units mark. Moreover, Hyundai is also working on a Ni 1 i codenamed SUV that will slot in between the Tucson and Alcazar. This SUV is expected to debut either by late 2026 or early 2027.

Our verdict

The current generation of the Hyundai Creta has been in the market for quite some time now. While the company gave it a mid-life facelift the previous year, a new-gen model is expected to bring enormous changes to its driving characteristics and safety.
