The Volvo S60 and XC60 will get Volvo’s latest 2.0L diesel engines. This new engine belongs to the Drive-E range of 4-cylinder engines and will now be offered as standard on the D4 variants of the S60 sedan and XC60 SUV. Both the cars had received a facelift earlier this year.
The new engines will replace the previous 5-cylinder 2.0L engines. The engines now produce a higher power figure of 181 BHP @ 4250 RPM while the maximum torque remains the same at 400 Nm now starting from @ 1750 – 2500 RPM. The engine will now be mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, replacing the previous 6-speed unit. Volvo claims that with the addition of a new engine and a new gearbox, the cars will be more fuel efficient along with delivering better performance. The S60 will be available only in the front-wheel drive version, while the XC60 will come with the all-wheel drive system. TheXC60 will currently be available in a powerful D5 variant as well powered by a 2.4L engine producing 215 BHP, which is likely to be replaced by a powerful 2.0L engine later.
These changes are likely to come along with a bump in the price tag and also as a result of the revision in import duties.
