BMW Motorrad India has announced the new GS Trophy edition colours. This is for its offerings, F 850 GS, R 1250 GS, and R 1250 GS Adventure. All three models only get updates on the cosmetic front, so no changes to the mechanicals. The Bavarian trio now gets blue and silver with red accents for the new cosmetic update. Apart from that, all three motorcycles carry forward the same features and mechanical bits from the standard trims.
So, the F 850 GS continues with its 850cc twin-cylinder motor with output rated at 95 BHP and 92 Nm. It gets a six-speed gearbox paired with a quick shifter from BMW’s Dynamic Package. As for the 1250 GS siblings they use a 1,254cc boxer-twin motor dishing out 134.14 BHP and 143 Nm. BMW offers a slew of electronics on all three ADVs. From LED illumination to ABS, riding modes, traction control, heated grips, cruise control, USB charging, engine brake control, multi-controller and much more. The GS Trophy models get the same suspension setup and retain the braking setup as well. The new paint scheme is available at the same price as the other models.
BMW Motorrad India had a great 2022. It was well placed for record sales at halfway stage itself in 2022. The brand had sold a total of 3,114 units. This is 60 per cent of total CY2021 sales – and recorded 56.7 per cent growth in the January-June 2022 period. Together, the G 310 R and G 310 GS commanded a share of around 90 per cent, which translates to 2,802 units.
As has been in the past four years, the G 310 series of motorcycles were the biggest sales contributors. And it was no different in 2022 as well. BMW Motorrad’s product portfolio received a new charge in mid-2022 when it got the third member of the 310 series which is the G310 RR.
As per the company’s note, the BMW G 310 R, G 310 RR and G 310 GS commanded a share of 90 per cent in motorcycle sales in the calendar 2022. Other popular models in the Indian market are the S 1000 RR superbike, the R 1250 GS / GSA adventure motorcycle and the C 400 GT maxi-scooter.
