The 2025 Volkswagen Jetta sedan has emerged with a fresh look, marking the second styling update for this Golf-based sedan in six years. While the Jetta is no longer available in Australia, it remains a popular choice in North America. Let’s delve into the details of this latest iteration.
The MY25 Jetta boasts restyled front and rear bumpers, along with new LED headlights featuring a full-width light bar. The LED tail-light bar adds a modern touch, complemented by fresh 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels. Two new exterior colors enhance the sedan’s visual appeal.
Inside, the Jetta receives a revamped dashboard design. The 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen now sits in a ‘tablet’ style on the dashboard, similar to the T-Roc SUV. Touch-sensitive climate controls replace physical dials and switches. Additionally, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now available on more affordable models. Depending on the trim, buyers can choose from new cloth, microfiber/synthetic leather-look, or Vienna leather upholstery.
The sportier Jetta GLI variant retains its appeal. It remains the last Volkswagen performance car to offer a six-speed manual transmission, following the discontinuation of the manual Golf GTI and R. The GLI features an older 231 PS/350 Nm version of the Golf GTI’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Exclusive to the GLI are larger brakes, an electronically-controlled limited-slip front differential (‘VAQ’), adaptive dampers, and a dual-outlet sports exhaust.
Meanwhile, regular Jetta models come equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine producing 160 PS and 250 Nm, mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Despite its updates, the MY25 Jetta will not make a comeback in India. Volkswagen and Skoda have shifted their focus to the India 2.0 Project, launching sister cars like the Virtus/Slavia and Taigun/Kushaq. Unfortunately, the Jetta won’t wear a Volkswagen badge on Indian roads.
