MY24 MG Gloster SUV getting ready for debut, interior spy shots reveal details

JSW MG Motor India is gearing up to launch the facelifted version of its flagship SUV, the MG Gloster, in India. The Gloster has been a popular choice since its debut in 2020, and the upcoming facelift promises several enhancements, especially in the interior department.

Interior Design and Features

  • Larger Touchscreen Infotainment System: The test mule of the Gloster facelift reveals a significant upgrade in the infotainment system. Instead of the current 12.3-inch unit, the new Gloster will feature a larger touchscreen. This revamped interface will likely offer improved functionality and a more intuitive user experience.
  • Fully Digital TFT Driver’s Display: Partially visible in the spy shots, the driver’s display is expected to be a fully digital TFT unit. Customizable interfaces will allow drivers to tailor the information they see, enhancing convenience and safety.
  • All-Black Cabin Layout: Unlike the tan upholstery seen in the pre-facelift model, the Gloster facelift will sport an all-black interior. This choice exudes a more premium and sophisticated feel.
  • Maxus D90 Influence: The Gloster facelift is likely to borrow design cues from the Maxus D90 (Lingdi), which is sold in China by MG’s parent group SAIC. Expect restyled AC vents, an updated dashboard, and a completely revamped center console.

Exterior Updates

  • Subtle Changes: While the exterior is expected to remain largely in line with the current Gloster, there will be some minimal updates. These include horizontal slats for the large front grille and slightly revised bumpers.
  • Chrome Accents: The India-spec model will likely receive additional chrome elements, including the front grille. This adds a touch of elegance to the SUV’s appearance.
  • Redesigned Lighting: The facelifted Gloster will feature redesigned split-LED headlamps with prominent Daytime Running Lamps. New alloy wheels and connected tail-lamps with a light bar running across the tailgate complete the refreshed look.

Powertrain and Pricing

  • Engine: The Gloster facelift is expected to retain the existing 2.0-liter diesel engine, available in both 4×2 and 4×4 drive configurations.
  • Launch Timeline: MG Motor has not officially announced the launch date, but we anticipate it to be by the end of this year.
  • Expected Price: While the current Gloster is priced between INR 38.80 lakh and INR 43.87 lakh, the facelifted version is likely to command a higher price due to its enhancements.
  • Competition: The MG Gloster facelift will continue to compete with SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq, and the upcoming Nissan X-Trail.
