Written by Kanad Kalasur

The Mahindra XUV300 is due for an upgrade pretty soon. Now, it has been reported that the Mahindra XUV300 mid-life update will add a new automatic transmission to the SUV. Apart from this, the sub 4m SUV will also get updated exterior, revamped insides and some new features as well.

What’s new in the Mahindra XUV300 Facelift?

One of the main updates expected is the panoramic sunroof. If Mahindra manages to pull this off, this will be segment-first feature that will definitely give the XUV300 an advantage over its rivals.

The XUV300 is also expected to get a larger touchscreen infotainment along with a digital instrument cluster as well.

Powertrain of the Mahindra XUV300 Facelift

Mahindra is likely to continue the same engine options as before, which include a 1.2-litre turbo petrol good for 110 HP, a 131 HP direct injector 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel that develops 117 HP.

In terms of transmission options, the Indian carmaker is expected to introduce a 6-speed Aisin torque converter automatic. This gearbox could replace the current 6-speed AMT unit. In terms of performance, the 6-speed auto could likely offer better and smoother gear shifts as compared to the existing AMT box.

However, it is not yet clear if the new gearbox will be offered across the range of engines or will be limited to just some of the available options.

Mahindra and Aisin

Mahindra’s relationship with Aisin goes way back since the time of the XUV500. The Japanese firm has been supplying gearboxes for not just the XUV500, but also current offerings like the XUV700, Scorpio N and the Thar.

Aisin also supplies to other carmakers like Maruti, Skoda, Volkswagen and MG amongst others. Some of the cars using Aisin transmission includes Brezza, Ertiga, Front, XL6, Grand Vitara, Kushaq, Taigun, Slavia, Virtus, Astor Turbo.
