Jeep India And Its Road Ahead

Jeep India prioritises the electric vehicle segment in the Indian market. The company is actively evaluating various options as it finalizes its strategies for the domestic market.

In addition to its electric vehicle plans, Jeep India has set an ambitious target of achieving over 90 per cent localization for its compact SUV, the Jeep Compass, within the next three years. The company operates a manufacturing facility in Ranjangaon, Pune district, through a 50:50 joint venture with Tata Motors.

Jeep is currently studying options for vehicle electrification because the customer is at the core, and their needs must be met. Globally, they have a substantial expansion of the EV portfolio, so they are assessing different possibilities for the Indian market. Jeep India is also stressing the importance of electrification in Jeep’s Indian operations, although the company is still in the process of finalizing its EV strategy.

Regarding their next-generation products, Jeep India aims to increase localization by 40 per cent, compared to the current 70 per cent, which is a significant focus for the company. Furthermore, the company sees exports as vital to its long-term strategy. Exporting not only facilitates the scaling of operations but also provides a competitive advantage in terms of cost-efficiency.
