Last week Mercedes-Benz India reopened bookings for the AMG G 63 and Maybach GLS 600. Further, the German luxury carmaker offered priority to existing customers before new customers could get a chance to get their hands on the top-end G-wagen.
While the bookings have resumed, the price for the ultimate SUV is set at INR 3.3 crore (ex-showroom). This is almost INR 1 crore more than the initial launch price.
Despite this huge hike in prices, customers are lining-up to get their hands on this SUV.
This was further highlighted by the carmaker themselves earlier this month. The high-end luxury segment in India is on the rise. In fact, Mercedes reported a 69 per cent growth in volume in the 2022 calendar year. Hence, India is an important for Mercedes.
Mercedes has lined-up some attractive offerings for 2023. Amongst all of these, over 50 per cent comprises models like the AMG E 53 cabriolet, AMG G 63, GLS Maybach, S-Class, S-Class Maybach, and the EQS luxury EV.
The 2nd-gen G-Class was launched back in 2018. In 2021, Mercedes introduced a facelift version of the same. The SUV is best known for its off-road capabilities and its on-road presence. The carmaker has managed to retain the boxy and classic timeless design
In terms of power, Mercedes has provided the AMG G 63 with a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine. This motor generates 577 BHP and 850 Nm of peak torque. In terms of gearbox, a 9-speed automatic transmission handles all this power and sends it to all the wheels via a four-wheel drive system.
For starters, the German carmaker has revealed the upcoming strategy for the Indian market. The company has been working on reducing waiting times on models like the AMG G 63 and the GLS Maybach 600 amongst others. This move is bound to increase customer delight and improve the brand’s presence in India.
