Mahindra has launched the MY23 XUV300 SUV in India. The prices for the compact SUV now start at INR 7.99 lakh. There is also an addition of two new variants. One is the entry level W2 trim while the other is W4 variant with the turbo petrol engine.
What’s new in the 2023 Mahindra XUV300?
The newly introduced W2 MT is now the base variant of the SUV. It comes with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that develops 109 BHP @ 5,000 rpm and 200 Nm @ 2,000-3,500 rpm.
Meanwhile, the TurboSport engine option also gains a new lower-priced W4 trim. It is powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol that is rated at 129 BHP @ 5,000 and 230 Nm @ 1,500-3,750 rpm.
ANother update is the addition of a sunroof on the W4 variants of the XUV300. This is expected to offer higher value to customers who won’t have to go for the top-end trim just to get the sunroof. Both the petrol and diesel options get this feature.
Earlier this year, Mahindra updated the XUV300 SUV for upcoming emission norms. The 2023 Mahindra XUV300 now comes with engines that are BS6 Phase 2 emission compatible.
Rivals of the Mahindra XUV300
The Mahindra XUV300 will head against the likes of the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Mahindra is planning to launch the XUV300 Facelift sometime next year. This will get new exterior updates, changes on the inside and a larger dual-pane sunroof amongst others. Engine options are likely to be the same.
