There was a lot of noise when Mahindra launched the Thar RWD. A boxy lifestyle SUV with less complications and a competitive price tag. Mahindra Thar RWD is available with a 1.5L diesel engine in the lower trims and a 2.0L petrol engine in the higher trims.
But with a competitive price tag, there were not a lot of omissions. And thus, the Thar was still just as desirable as before. Previously, there were no identifiable badges on the exteriors for Thar RWD until now. But, now the Mahindra Thar RWD Gets New Badge Mahindra Thar RWD Badge. The spot where the 4X4 badge went earlier, was left blank. But. now, we see an RWD badge in that space.
Well, prospective owners could become slightly disappointed with this new badge. As one could easily slap an aftermarket 4X4 badging in that blank space easily. Interestingly enough, there were no other differentiating elements to distinguish RWD from a 4X4 model.
We have two images of Thar RWD with new badging to spot out for other things. Both of the SUVs in the photos feature MRF Wanderer A/T tyres over CEAT CrossDrive A/T tyres. At launch, Mahindra collaborated with CEAT and offered Czar A/T tyres. Now, a couple of months after launch, Mahindra seems to use MRF Wanderer A/T tyres. Or maybe this is temporary, adhering to availability. Customers would have liked the RWD models to wear the H/T tyres.
Mahindra Thar is still a very popular lifestyle off-roader that it always was. As of now, customers can have the SUV in only convertible tops and hardtops. But Mahindra is reportedly working on a soft top variant as well. Currently, Mahindra Thar retails between INR 10.54 lakh and INR 16.77 lakh (ex-sh).
