As per rumours, the updated version of the Yamaha MT-15 will arrive in India soon. We do not have the official launch timeline from the motorcycle maker. But, we assume that the motorcycle might arrive sometime around February to March 2022.
We are predicting two changes for the updated model. First is the addition of Bluetooth connectivity, and second is the possibility of getting R15V4-like upside-down forks. The Bluetooth functionality is almost certain. The reason is, even the lower-priced motorcycles of Yamaha like the FZ S Fi and FZ X get this feature. And also, the latest iteration of the YZF R15 V4 gets this feature. As both the MT-15 and R15 share most of the parts, we can expect M-15 to get the Bluetooth Connectivity feature.
The current iteration of the MT-15 gets a conventional telescopic setup. But as R15 gets the upside-down fork, we assume that Yamaha might include them with the new M-15. Currently, the MT-15 is priced at INR 1,46,000 (ex-showroom). And with the updated model, we can expect Yamaha to price the updated model a bit higher. The iteration model comes with 4 colour options. These are Metallic Black, Dark Matt Blue, Ice Fluo-Vermillion and a special Monster Energy MotoGP Edition.
Yamaha will most likely continue with the same 155cc liquid-cooled motor that makes 18.23 BHP and 13.9 Nm. The equipped gearbox is a six-speed unit. MT-15 makes use of Deltabox chassis that get the support of telescopic forks at the front and linked-type Monocross suspension for the rear. Braking power comes from discs set up both for the front and rear. ABS on offer is of the single-channel type. In terms of dimension, the MT-15 measures 2,020 mm in length, 800 mm in width and 1,070 mm in height. The ground clearance reads 170mm with a wheelbase of 1,335 mm. Fuel capacity of 10 litres is adequate for quick weekend trips.
