It is no secret that Tata Motors is currently working on a longer-range version of the Nexon EV. Recently, spy shots of a Tata Nexon EV surfaced on the internet, and a new interesting update. As it looks other than getting a larger battery pack, the EV will also get all four-disc brakes. Other than this, the test mule’s overall design pretty much follows that of the current iteration that is on sale.
Going ahead with the rumours, the longer-range Nexon will get a 40 kWh battery pack. And with this, we can expect a range of 400 km on a single charge. Tata Motors could launch this long-range Nexon sometime in mid-2022. Interestingly, both the current iteration and this long-range model will be sold simultaneously. Tata Motors will pitch the long-range version against the likes of MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric.
With the growing demand for electric cars in the market, Tata Nexon EV is currently the top choice. The car currently has a market share of close to 60 per cent, which is quite a significant number. The key USP that is working perfectly for Tata Motors is the competitive pricing. With no other options in that price range, Tata Nexon EV is ruling the market. But, now, with more manufacturers introducing their EV offerings, Nexon EV will slowly feel the heat. Tata Motors recently launched the electric version of Tigor. With Tigor, customers now have a more affordable option in the EV segment.
Given the rising demand for electric vehicles in the country, it is important to build robust and viable charging infrastructure. Tata Power is an emerging charging solution provider in the EV. The company added its infrastructure in over 40 cities from the country with over 600 charging points. Major cities include Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, and Visakhapatnam.
