MY22 MG ZS EV facelift spotted testing on Indian streets

Chinese-owned, British manufacturer MG has been spotted testing its 2022 facelifted ZS EV on the roads of India. MG India may launch the electric SUV in India at a later date in 2022, which sports numerous updates. Based on the recently released spy images, the electric SUV sports a heavy camouflage with slightly exposed headlamps and air vents. MG has already launched the new 2022 facelifted ZS EV in international markets such as the UK with great success.

2022 MG ZS EV facelift: Design Details 

In terms of styling, the new MG ZS EV resembles the recently launched, petrol-powered MG Astor with a new front end. The electric SUV now sports a body-coloured, blanked-out front grille, new LED headlamps, and a new sculpted front bumper. Apart from the new re-designed alloy wheels, the rear of the electric SUV is identical to that of the Astor. The 2022 MG ZS EV measures 4323mm in length, 2048mm in width, and 1625mm in height with a 2581mm wheelbase.

2022 MG ZS EV facelift: Technical Specs & Features 

In India, the current-gen MG ZS EV sports a 44.5 kWh, Ultra High-Density Lithium-Ion battery with IP-67 certification. However, the UK version of the SUV gets a 72.6 kWh battery that develops 156 PS and 206 Nm. This allows the e-SUV to accelerate from 0-100 kph in 8.2 seconds and offer a claimed range of 622 Km. Using a 1-speed automatic gearbox, the facelifted ZS EV also sports an updated interior that matches the Astor SUV.

MG has equipped the 2022 ZS EV with regenerative braking modes, a panoramic sky roof, and a 360-degree parking camera. The front dashboard of the electric SUV houses the 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, MG also offers ADAS technology, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise control, Blind Spot Monitoring as active safety features. Other features of the new MG ZS EV include heated front seats, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic air conditioning.

Recently, MG India announced that it has discontinued the DCT variants for its Hector and Hector Plus SUVs. The automaker will only offer the 8-speed, CVT automatic transmission as the only option for Hector and Hector Plus customers. The lack of smoothness and the lack of fuel efficiency offered by the DCT transmission were the contributing factors.
