Maruti Suzuki has officially launched the updated WagonR. There are some significant changes in the mechanical department, that includes two new engine options. Aesthetically, customers will now have new colour shades to choose from, namely Gallant Red and Magma Grey. Both these colour options come with a Black roof, thus perfectly contrasting with the body shade. WagonR is one of the iconic nameplates of Maruti Suzuki that has had a long history. Now with these subtle updates, the hatchback becomes even more desirable.
With a starting price of INR 5.39 lakh (ex-showroom) and going all the way up to INR 7.10 lakh (ex-showroom), WagonR’s pricing spectrum is quite wide. A total of four trims will go on sale, namely, LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+. For customers interested in the subscription model, WagonR is available an all-inclusive monthly subscription fee starting from INR 12,300.
Keeping with the competition, Maruti Suzuki has added an array of new inclusions with the WagonR. Customers will now get features like, Hold Assist in AGS variants, 17.78cm (7-inch) SmartPlay Studio with Smartphone Navigation and 4 speakers. To further spice up things, the 2022 WagonR gets a new dual-tone interior with Beige and Dark Grey Melange fabric. This combo of interior and exterior make the hatchback look quite appealing.
The main talking point with the new WagonR is its engine options. For the 2022 model, WagonR arrives with two engine options. First is the 1.0-litre K-series Dual Jet, Dual VVT Engine; meanwhile, the second is the same setup but a 1.2-litre unit. Both the engines benefit from Maruti Suzuki’s Idle Start-Stop Technology. WagonR being a Maruti, will also take care of the wallet. The company claims that the 1.0-litre VXI AGS variant will return a mileage of 25.19 kmpl. Meanwhile, the 1.2L ZXI AGS variant than the outgoing model gets certified ARAI mileage of 24.43 kmpl.
Given the growing sentiments to look for petrol alternatives, WagonR will also get CNG options. For the commercial segment, Maruti Suzuki has introduced the new H3, available in both petrol and CNG variants. The factory-fitted S-CNG option is now available in both LXI and VXI trims. Both the variants get the 1.0L Next Gen K-Series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine. Gearbox options include both manual and AGS (Automatic Gear Shift). AGS is only available for VXI and above trims.
Based on the HEARTECT platform, Maruti Suzuki claims that the new WagonR promises enhanced safety for its occupants. Standard safety kit includes dual airbags, Anti Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), front seat belts reminder, a high-speed alert system and rear parking sensors.
