Maruti Suzuki has launched the new 2022 S-Presso in India. The mini-SUV now gets a new engine, better fuel efficiency, and more features with the automatic as well as across the range. The pricing for the 2022 S-Presso starts at INR 4,25,000 ex-showroom. The brand says the S-Presso has carved out a niche for itself and sold over 2,02,500 units in three years. The commanding SUV stance, spacious interiors and advanced features resonate well with customers’ interests.
Like before, the S-Presso will be available in a total of six variants. These include four manual gearbox variants and two automatic ones. The manual variants are – Std. MT, LXI MT, VXI MT and VXI+ MT. On the other hand, the automatic variant lineup includes – VXI (O) AGS and VXI+ (O) AGS. The range starts at INR 4,25,000 ex-showroom for the Std. MT variant with a manual gearbox. The other manual variants, LXI MT, VXI MT and VXI+ MT, cost INR 4,95,000, INR 5,15,000 and INR 5,49,000 ex-showroom, respectively. Meanwhile, the automatic range starts at INR 5,65,000 ex-showroom for the VXI (O) AGS. The range-topping variant of the S-Presso, VXI+ (O) AGS, costs INR 5,99,000 ex-showroom.
The biggest difference for the 2022 model of the S-Presso is the new engine. Powering the 2022 S-Presso is a 1.0-litre Dual Jet VVT petrol engine. The engine also benefits from Idle Start-Stop technology. The 2022 S-Presso with the new engine makes 67 HP at 5,500 rpm and 89 Nm of torque at 3.500 rpm. The 2022 S-Presso is available with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed Auto-Gear Shift (AGS), which is an AMT transmission.
The new engine and Idle Start-Stop technology also improve the fuel efficiency of the S-Presso. The brand claims the AGS is 17 per cent more fuel efficient while the manual is 14 per cent more fuel efficient. According to Maruti Suzuki, the AGS variants have a fuel efficiency of 25.30 kmpl, while the VXI MT and VXI+ MT have a fuel efficiency of 24.76 kmpl. However, the two entry-level variants, Std. MT and LXI MT have a fuel efficiency of 24.12 kmpl.
The 2022 S-Presso also gets a host of feature additions. The AGS variants of the 2022 S-Presso now feature Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and hill hold assist as standard. Meanwhile, the VXI+ MT and VXI+ (O) AGS variants now get electronically adjustable ORVMs. Furthermore, Maruti Suzuki has also added a new cabin air filter for cleaner air in the cabin.
