The Kia Sonet comes with three engine options and multiple transmission choices. There are two petrol engine options – SmartStream 1.2 and 1.0 T-GDI; and one diesel – 1.5 CRDi WGT/VGT on offer. Transmission options available are a 5 or 6-speed manual, a 6-speed iMT, a 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
The SmartStream 1.2-litre petrol produces 83 PS of power and 115 NM of torque coupled with a 5-speed manual only. The 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine makes 120 PS of max power and 172 NM of torque. Transmission options with this engine are a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission. The 1.5-litre diesel option with a 6-speed manual makes 100 PS of power and 240 NM of torque. When paired with the optional 6-speed torque converter automatic, it makes 115 PS of power and 250 NM of torque because of a variable geometry turbo (VGT).
