Kawasaki has introduced 2022 of its neo-retro motorcycle, the W175, in Indonesia. The motorcycle gets new colour options as part of this update, namely Metallic Resplendent Silver, Metallic Matte Covert Green, and Ebony-Black Style. The motorcycle is available in three variants, which mainly differ by the way they look.
The base SE looks like a conventional modern-classic motorcycle that gets a round headlamp with chrome bezels. Other design highlights include a single-piece handlebar, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a chunky seat, a peashooter-style exhaust, and spoke wheels. Meanwhile, the cafe racer variant uses a tiny fly screen, a ribbed pattern seat, and a different colour option. All these add up to give this trim a much-differentiated look. The top-spec TR SE edition features the characteristics of a scrambler. High-set fenders, a braced handlebar, and an upswept exhaust all add up to give it a much more pronounced look.
As part of the update, there’s no change in the mechanical department. Hence, the motorcycle continues to use a 177cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 12.6bhp of power. The torque output is trim specific, and hence, the TR SE makes 13.6Nm while the SE and Café produce 13.2Nm. Matching the design is the suspension setup that uses telescopic forks with gaiters up front and dual springs at the rear. Braking power comes from a disc setup at the front and a drum brake at the rear. One key aspect that will also stun everyone is the kerb weight that tips the scale at just 126 kg.
Recently, there were images of a test mile of a W175 in India, that also led us to believe that Kawasaki is planning to launch the motorcycle soon. But as of yet, we don’t have any official communication. Also, with the recent spike in interest in retro-based motorcycles in India, we are sure W175 will have a fair share of buyers. The demand is running high in this segment, with many new launches and updates happening at regular intervals. Thus, we hope Kawasaki also decides to bring in the W175 for the Indian market.
