MY22 Kawasaki Ninja 650 gets 2 new color options

Kawasaki Ninja 650 is the epitome of a practical sports bike. The motorcycle has a massive fan following all across the world and is famous for its tractability and affordability. But, interestingly, Kawasaki has not given the motorcycle many updates since 2017. Compared to other motorcycles in the competition, the Ninja feels old in terms of tech and performance. And yet the Ninja 650 continues to sell in good numbers.

In 2019, Kawasaki had given a facelift update that made the motorcycle look much cleaner and fresh. Moreover, for the upcoming 2022 Ninja 650 as well, the bike is very much identical to the current 2021 model. The only new upgrade is the addition of two new body shades, namely, Pearl White with Metallic Carbon Gray and Metallic Matte Graphene Steel Gray. The Pearl White shade will suit the ones looking for a more sporty outlook. Meanwhile, the Metallic Matte Graphene Steel Gray gives more of a stealthy street focus impression.

Hardware and Engine Specification

Kawasaki continues with the same 649cc parallel-twin cylinder DOHC engine. The performance figure of the motor is rated at 68 PS of power and 64 Nm of torque. The engine makes use of electronic fuel injection with dual throttle valves. The motor comes with a 6-speed return type transmission and an Assist and Slipper clutch. The frame of the motorcycle is of the trellis type made from high-tensile steel. Supporting the chassis is 41mm forks at the front and a preload-adjustable horizontal back-link suspension at the rear. The braking setup makes use of 300mm dual semi-floating petal discs at the front. Meanwhile, at the rear, Kawasaki is using a 220mm petal disc.

Features and Equipment

To keep up with the competition, Kawasaki has equipped the Ninja 650 with a host of tech. This includes a new LED headlamp, a 4.3-inch TFT coloured instrument panel and a clip-on style handlebar. Kawasaki has also upgraded the tyres to Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2. This set of tyres help in improving the stability, thus providing the rider with more confidence. Currently, the Ninja 650 has a sticker price of INR 6,61,00 (ex-showroom).
