Dorna Sports, the exclusive television and commercial rights holder of MotoGP and Tata Communications, a global digital ecosystem enabler, renewed their multi-year strategic collaboration. The collaboration brings MotoGP’s close racing and incredible competition to nearly half a billion homes worldwide.
Dorna Sports says that Tata has been pivotal in enabling them to bring live race action to the fans. The collaboration renewal will help Tata Communications get to the next level of the fan experience.
Tata Communications enables some of the world’s major sports and entertainment federations. The company’s media, cloud and connectivity services use the world’s largest subsea fibre network of its kind to create an end-to-end solution for fast-paced sports like MotoGP.
Tata Communications, with its world-leading, digital-first suite of media offerings, empowers the MotoGP viewing experience. The company’s use of media edge services will allow MotoGP to ensure great video quality. Additionally, it also allows tremendous speed, which delivers the race live from the track to the viewer’s screen. All this is done in just a few tenths of a second.
Both the companies will also boost migration from an onsite media production to remote production. The remote production will culminate in a future cloud-based model, which will increase the number of video signals from 60 to 110. Some of the signals will be in ultra-low latency, providing more content and enabling remotely produced immersive sound.
The global content delivery network and remote production capabilities combined will also enable the increase in remote broadcasting of live track action. Furthermore, this will increase the sustainability and long-term environmental objectives of MotoGP and Dorna Sports.
Tata Communications and Dorna are also working to leverage Private LTE deployment at the race circuits. This will allow them to manage wireless camera feeds with low latency and the highest quality possible. Thus, bringing incredible content to viewers around the world.
