Swedish luxury car manufacturer Volvo has issued a global recall for 5,07,000 cars. Yes, the recall figure is over 5 lakh cars. The problem with the Volvo cars is with a faulty component in the engine bay which could result in a fire breakout. This would prove fatal and puts the owner / users life at risk. Hence, all these 5,07,000 cars will be inspected worldwide.
First, there were many complaints which were received with the 2.0L, 4-cylinder diesel engined cars from 2014-2019. With a big number of complaints, the brand dug deeper and found out that the plastic engine intake manifold was the root cause. The problem is that this plastic part could melt or catch fire in the engine bay.
The brand suggests that owners can look out for symptoms like foul odour while driving which isn’t felt otherwise, engine checklight, engine not functioning as expected, loss of power and the likes. If any car owner feels any of this, he / she should park the car and not drive it further. Without these symptoms though, it is safe to continue driving said Volvo.
Volvo will contact car owners and fix an appointment to get this fixed free of charge.
The cars affected by this recall include the V40, V40 Cross Country, V60, V60 Cross Country, V70, V90, V90 Cross Country, S60, S60 Cross Country, XC60, XC70 and XC90.
