The minivan’s interior also brings various possibilities for the user to configure the space according to their personality.

Mini Moments

The Mini Vision Urbanaut will come with the Mini Moments concept. The concept boasts of offering unforgettable times spent in the minivan. The conceptual platform allows the “chill”, “wanderlust”, and “vibe” moments and an onboard experience with the best possible spatial experience. According to Mini, the Chill moment comes when the user pauses to catch their breath. The Mini Vision Urbanaut offers a “cosy corner” rear bench seat that allows the user to relax and work with full concentration. The Urbanaut offers various seating and lying positions and a backlit loop inspired by the green forests.

The Wanderlust moment is the only one where the Mini Vision Urbanaut is being driven or using automated driving functions. Tapping on the Mini logo brings the steering wheel and pedals out. The main instrument cluster on the minivan also adapts its visuals and displays the navigation route. The instruments cluster also displays the navigation in animation and also shows additional journey information. The additional information includes points of interest and the arrival time of the destination.

In the Vibe moment, the windscreen folds up and the side doors open, merging the inside with the outdoors. The central infotainment screen also becomes the media control centre, and the graphics of the equaliser are projected on the front, rear, wheels and the loop overhead.

Mini Urbanaut Sustainability

The Mini Urbanaut focuses on multi-faceted sustainability. This includes the Clever Use of Space concept, that the brand is renowned for. Mini reveals that the Urbanaut measures 4.46 metres in length, but the interior space on the Urbanaut allows the passengers to move about with ease. The interior covers are also changeable, and the Urbanaut does not feature any leather or chrome on the inside. Mini is also likely to adopt a new sustainability approach on the next generation of Mini-cars.

The Urbanaut features exclusive recyclable and renewable materials, which include wool, polyester and Tencel. The new blend offers a soft and comfortable interior textile that provides the cosiness that Urbanaut promises. Designers have also paid extra attention to single materials called “mono-materials”. The brand also reveals that it uses recyclable cork material for the steering wheel.
