Swiss-headquartered, Micromobility has introduced a 2-seater electric car which has enough space for two adults and three crates of beer. The electric car looks perfect for urban commutes and is capable of home charging in just 4 hours or in just 1 hour at a designated fast-charging station. The EV has been under development for quite a few years and version 2.0 of the concept will be entering production in September 2021. In the European market, the Microlino will come with a price tag close to the EUR 12,000 mark which translates to approximately INR 10.50 lakh in India.
Powering the Microlino is an 11kW output motor that can generate 100 Nm of torque enabling the small car to accelerate from 0-50 kmph in just 5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 90 kmph. The electric motor draws power from an 8 kWh or and optional 14.4 kWh Lithium-Ion NMC battery pack that claims to return a 125 km per charge range on the 8 kWh model and 125 km on a single charge with the larger 14.4 kWh battery. Charging at home with a household socket or a wall box charger takes approximately 4 hours to replenish the battery or charging at a dedicated charging station for EVs takes 1 hour.
The Microlino takes its design inspiration from the BMW Isetta built in the 1950s and comes with minimalist styling. On the inside, the electric vehicle features a horizontal bar on the dashboard for attaching a mobile phone and wireless speakers, a digital display for instruments etc. The EV measures 2430mm in length, 1500mm in width and 1450mm in height. The car tips the scales at 513 kg with the battery pack. It comes with two seats and 230 litres of luggage space and also features 1.8kW PTC (positive temperature coefficient) heating. The car features a front opening door and the vehicle is so compact at just 2430mm in length which is nearly 1/3 the length required by conventional vehicles and can be cross-parked, exiting directly onto the sidewalk.
