The MG ZS petrol has scored a full 5-star rating for safety at the ASEAN NCAP. The ASEAN NCAP is a New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries, that crash tests and reports vehicle to improve vehicle safety standards and raise awareness in the customers which leads to the introduction of safer vehicles in the market. The MG ZS petrol was tested on vehicles manufactured in Thailand and the results are valid for both the Thailand market as well as the Vietnam market.
In the Adult Occupant Protection department, the MG ZS scored good protection to the occupants in the frontal impact test with marginal and adequate protection offered to the chest area of the front passengers. The car also remained stable in the frontal offset test. The side impact test shows good protection to the head and neck as well as the torso region. The side impact test results are based on the Fitment Rating System (FRS).
In the Child Occupant Protection department, the car scored a total of 40.96 points which includes the dynamic test, vehicle-based on fitment test. The Britax Baby-Safe Plus ISOFIX for the 18-month old child dummy and a Britax Duo Plus for the 3-year old child dummy. The MG ZS also scored 11 points for the Safety Assistance systems. The was equipped with standard safety features such as driver and passenger airbags, pretensioner and load limiter for the Driver and Front Passenger. The car is also offered with curtain airbags and side airbags as an optional extra.
The brand is planning to launch the MG ZS petrol in the Indian market this year. The MG ZS petrol is heavily inspired by the MG ZS EV electric car that is already on sale in the Indian market. The brand has been testing the MG ZS in India on public roads, spotted on more than one occasion. The brand is also expected to reveal the MG ZS petrol for the Indian market soon.
