MG ZS EV SUV revealed for India, gets 340 km driving range

MG Motor India has officially revealed the ZS EV SUV for the Indian market which is their 2nd product here. The MG ZS EV is an all-electric model which will rival the Hyundai Kona which was launched earlier in 2019. MG Motor India will first launch the ZS EV in top cities which includes Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad & Ahmedabad. Just like its sibling Hector, the MG ZS EV will also be manufactured at the plant in Halol, Gujarat.

Powering the MG ZS EV is a 44.5 kWh ultra high density battery pack which produces 142.7 PS of power and 353 Nm of torque. This battery is equipped to deliver a driving range of 340 km and will allow the ZS EV to spring from 0-100 kmph in 8.5 seconds. The MG ZS EV can be charged via a 15 A socket which will take 16-18 hours for a full charge. Using a 7.4 kW AC fast charger, this SUV can get a full charge in 6-8 hours. And with a 50 kW DC super fast charger which is set up at MG showrooms, the ZS EV can get 0-80% charge in just 50 minutes. MG Motor India will also introduce charging facility on the go via RSA service. The battery pack is lithium-ion type and gets an IP-67 rating for water resistance.

MG Motor India also revealed the i-Smart EV 2.0 connected technology which will be used on the infotainment system. This will allow users to check crucial data such as battery range & level, information on charging as to how long for a full charge and voltage, ECO tips, 360 Spider Navigation which tells you the driving range based on traffic conditions, range alerts if you are away from a charging setup and also locate nearest charging station. Other features include voice commands, 5G-ready sim car slot, OTa updates, remote control for vehicle, emergency call, MG pulse hub i-Call, geofencing, preloaded infotainment, driver analytics, security functions, wi-fi connectivity, weather app, etc.

The MG ZS EV is a typical SUV design and comes with LED DRLs, LED projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, 17″ alloy wheels, glowing MG logo, chrome studded front grille, leather upholstery, 8.9 cm MID, 60:40 rear split seat, electric driver seat, rain sensing wiper, engine start / stop button, electric gear console, 3-level Kinetic Energy Recovery System(KERS), driving modes, cruise control, auto headlamps, panoramic sunroof, PM 2.5 filter, 20.32 cm touchscreen infotainment and more…
