MG Windsor hits the torture track at the Halol plant

Written by News Team

MG Motor India is set to launch the country’s first Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV), the MG Windsor, on September 11, 2024.

In a recent demonstration, the Windsor showcased its capability and durability by tackling the rigorous “Torture Track” at MG’s Halol manufacturing plant in Gujarat. This testing ground simulates some of India’s most challenging driving conditions, proving that the Windsor is engineered to excel across the diverse terrains found throughout the country.

Torture Track Performance

The MG Windsor’s trial on the Torture Track was a display of its robust design and engineering. The course, which replicates the rough conditions of regions like Udaipur and Ladakh, put the Windsor through its paces over water, potholes, and rough, uneven surfaces. Thanks to its high ground clearance and intelligent CUV stance, the vehicle was able to glide over obstacles such as washboard surfaces, cobblestone paths, and speed humps with ease.

With these features, MG aims to offer drivers confidence on all types of roads, ensuring smooth rides even in rugged conditions—an essential quality given the variety of road surfaces across India.

Design and Features

One of the Windsor’s standout qualities is its new ‘AeroGlide Design’ language. Combining aerodynamics with MG’s signature craftsmanship, this design prioritizes both form and function. The vehicle boasts the largest wheelbase in its segment and comes fitted with 18-inch Diamond Cut Alloy wheels, emphasizing both stability and style.

For longer drives, comfort is paramount, and the Windsor delivers with its segment-first ‘Aero-Lounge Seats,’ which can recline up to 135°, making road trips more enjoyable. Whether for short commutes or weekend getaways, the Windsor aims to provide an enhanced level of comfort and convenience.

Tested Across India’s Toughest Terrains

The MG Windsor has undergone extensive testing in some of India’s most extreme conditions. From the intense heat of the Rann of Kutch to the high-altitude challenges of Leh and the rugged landscapes of Udaipur, the vehicle has been put through its paces to ensure reliability under various demanding environments. These tests validate the Windsor’s capabilities and endurance, suggesting that it’s ready for anything Indian roads might throw at it.

CUV: The Right Vehicle for Evolving Indian Roads?

CUVs like the MG Windsor are designed for versatility, making them well-suited for families and those seeking an adaptable vehicle for both daily commutes and longer trips. Their flexibility makes them ideal for urban roads, as well as the tight spaces and bumpy roads often found in smaller towns.
