MG Windsor EV bigger battery pack details

As per the online rumours, MG has finalized adding a bigger battery option to the Windsor EV. The current model comes loaded with a 38 kWh LFP battery option that provides a claimed range of up to 331 km per charge.

The new battery pack is believed to be sourced from the MG ZS EV, and it is expected to be a 50 kWh option. With this, the maximum power and torque, along with the driving range, will be increased collectively.

This bigger battery pack should ideally deliver more than 450 km driving because it already offers 460 km (MIDC-claimed) range for the ZS EV. With the addition of this bigger battery pack, the Windsor will become a better package for long-distance users.

Mind you, the Windsor EV was introduced in September 2024, and since then, it has been a superhit in the EV space. In fact, it consecutively did more than 3,000 unit sales in January 2025 for the past three months.

The primary reason behind its popularity is its spacious and comfortable cabin with reclining sofa-like rear seats. Moreover, it is loaded with features like a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, a dual-pane sunroof, ambient lights, wireless connectivity for phones, electric seats, and more.

The pricing of the current model ranges from Rs 14 lakh to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the bigger battery pack will add up to a few thousand or maybe a lakh above the smaller battery pack variants.

Our verdict on MG Windsor EV

MG India has undoubtedly defeated every other manufacturer in the EV segment in India. First, the Comet EV came and conquered the city EV car space and then the Windsor took over the crossover and C-SUV EV space. With the bigger battery option, we expect its sales to cross the 4,000 units/month mark.
