MG (Morris Garages) unveils 7-Seater Hector Plus at Auto Expo 2020

MG (Morris Garages) so far has had an interesting line-up at the Auto Expo 2020, and now at the MG pavilion, the brand has just showcased the Hector Plus which is designed and built on the MG Hector with enhanced features. MG recently launched the Hector in its BS6 avatar with a price hike of INR 26,000 across all variants and the new BS6 compliant engine on the Hector is expected to be shared with the Hector Plus.

To start off, the MG Hector Plus comes in a 6-seater and a 7-seater version with a customisable seating configuration (2+2+2) or (2+3+2). The Hector Plus is not just another resized variant of the Hector but it comes with new revamped exterior and interiors. On the outside, the Hector Plus gets all-new headlamps, new front and rear bumpers, a new grille, revised skid plates on both the front and rear and a new taillight design. Though information on the interiors has not yet been revealed and MG claims that the new Hector Plus variant will get more space and comfortable in-car experience, the Hector Plus model will at least match the Hector in terms of equipment and features at the minimum.

The MG Hector offers features like a 10.4-inch vertically oriented infotainment system, 7-inch coloured MID, 8 ambient colour lighting, flat foldable second-row seats, rain-sensing wiper, powered tailgate, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, fatigue reminder setting, leather seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, etc.

The engine on the MG Hector is the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine which produces 143 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque available in a manual gearbox as well as an automatic DCT (dual-clutch transmission). The diesel variant has not been upgraded yet but the Hector Plus could be a good platform to launch the BS6 compliant diesel engine.

In terms of safety, the MG Hector Plus is expected to get all the bells and whistles as the Hector such as 6 Airbags, ABS+EBD, brake assist, electronic parking brakes, 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic stability programme, hill hold control, ISOFIX child seat anchoring system, etc.

With the 7-seat layout and features, the MG Hector Plus will go head-to-head with the just-introduced Tata Gravitas which is based on the Tata Harrier, a competitor to the MG Hector.
