MG India showcased its first fuel-cell car in India today at the Auto Expo 2023. The British car manufacturer unveiled MG Euniq 7 which is a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) driven by hydrogen fuel cell technology. The Prome P390 PEM fuel cell system equipped with the EUNIQ 7 claims to have a range of up to 650 km. As per the MG, H2O (water) is the only byproduct of emission.
In terms of looks, the Euniq 7 MPV is pretty similar to the MG Gloster. It gets a large, imposing grille with sleek LED headlamps at the front. The vehicle showcased at auto expo 2023 also gets a dual-tone paint finish with blue and white in the lower and upper half of the MPV. MG Euniq 7 has sliding doors with a flat profile that looks quite striking. Coming to the rear, we see the tail lamp with the rear tailgate giving it a fresh outlook.
At the auto expo event, MG India mentioned that MG Euniq 7 can withstand 824-degree temperatures. The powertrain on the MPV also has an electrochemical power generation device, a hydrogen storage device and an electric drive system. The vehicle is said to deliver a total power output of 150 kW, which approximately translates to 200 BHP. The hydrogen tank has a capacity of about 6.4 kg and MG claims that it takes about 7 minutes to refuel the Euniq 7.
The interiors of the MPV, it has a modern dashboard layout. The MPV gets a 2+2+3 seating configuration with captain seats in the middle row. Other key features include a panoramic sunroof, a digital driver display and electronic parking brakes. The Euniq 7 also uses electronically-operated rear doors and a tailgate.
But as of now, we are not sure if MG Euniq 7 will make it into the Indian market.
