MG retails 3,602 units in January 2021, 15% growth compared to same month last year

MG Motor India has announced that the brand has registered retail sales of 3,602 units in the month of January 2021. Despite the affected production and the supply chain due to the annual maintenance shutdown at its Halol manufacturing facility in Gujarat, for a period of 11 days in January 2021, the brand has recorded a growth of 15% over the same period in 2020. 

The brand has also announced that it has ramped up the production output to chase the demand post maintenance shutdown and expects the sales to grow further in February and March 2021. The company also revealed that the much-popular Hector SUV has a waiting period of around 2 months and the waiting period for the premium SUV Gloster is close to 3-4 months depending on the variant. The brand’s fully electric vehicle the MG ZS EV also continues to garner demand in various markets across India. 

Recently, the brand introduced the MG Hector Plus 7-seater in the Indian market priced starting at INR 13.34 lakhs ex-showroom, India. The MG Hector Plus 7-seater features a bench middle row seat and now the Hector Plus is offered in both 6-seater & 7-seater versions. The Hector Plus 7-seater is available for purchase in four trim options – Style, Super, Smart and Select. 

Alongside the new MG Hector 7-seater, the brand also launched the new 2021 Hector facelift which is a 5-seater SUV at prices starting INR 12.90 ex-showroom, India. The facelift has arrived just 18 months after the SUV made its debut in the Indian market and comes with a nominal INR 6,000 price hike over the outgoing model. 

The MG Hector facelift features mild changes to the exteriors which include a new ‘Hector’ badge, new ‘Thermopressed’ radiator grille, a dark tailgate applique, 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-tone paint theme, wireless smartphone charging, new ambient lights, new Ventilated Seats and an industry-first Hinglish Voice Command feature with the Connected car tech. 

The brand is also rumoured to introduce a new SUV in the form of the MG ZS Petrol which will be based on the MG ZS EV.
