MG Motors is trying all possible means to attract customers to experience its electric vehicle offering the ZS EV. In a recent announcement, the British carmaker revealed that the customers can now subscribe to the ZS EV via Zoomcar and ORIX for a tenure of 36 months which will be available at an inaugural price of INR 49,999 per month.
Under the vision of CASE (Connected – Autonomous – Shared – Electric) MG Motors has launched this subscription package which is aimed towards attracting more customers to experience the ZS EV. This collaboration with mobility partner Zoomcar and ORIX will help in accentuating MG Motor’s reach to a large number of cities, given the strong presence of both the partners across the country. Zoomcar will provide this subscription under the ‘MG Subscribe’ programme.
Currently, the ZS EV is available in 4 cities; Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Pune, Bangalore and in future, MG has confirmed that this programme will be added to more cities. . The customers will have the option to choose from 12-, 24-, 18-, 30- or 36-month subscription. MG Motors entered the Indian market in 2019 with the launch of the Hector, dubbed as the first internet SUV. Now, MG has given Hector a new life by giving it a facelift update. The production facility is located in Halol, Gujarat where its current annual capacity is set at 80,000 vehicles and employs around 2,500 personnel. Being just 2 years under operation in India, MG Motors has set up a wide service network which spans over 50 cities with over 65 showrooms.
The ZS EV is powered by a 44.5 kWh lithium-ion battery which makes 143 PS of power and 353 Nm of torque and the ARAI rated mileage is 340 km under a single charge. For 2020, ZS EV did show up an impressive result in terms of sales figure and it sold around 1,1142 units which is about 25% of the electric vehicle market share in India. The pricing is a bit higher as the ZS EV comes to India via the CKD route and falls in the INR 20 to INR 25 lakhs price bracket.
