MG Motor reveals new MG HS mid-size SUV, but not for India

MG Motor has unveiled the new MG HS, a mid-size SUV designed for style, performance, and advanced technology. However, the company has confirmed that the new model will not be available in India.

MG HS Design and Features

The MG HS features a sporty design with distinctive elements like “Hunting Eye” LED headlights and “The Shard” full-length LED taillights. The SUV is built to appeal to younger buyers with its bold aesthetics and high-tech features. Inside, it boasts a dual 12.3-inch HD digital cockpit, BOSE premium audio system, and wireless charging.

Performance and Engine Options

The MG HS offers two engine options: a 1.5T engine delivering 173 hp with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a 2.0T engine producing 231 hp paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Both engines promise a responsive and engaging driving experience.

In addition to performance, the HS is designed to cater to tech-savvy buyers with features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an intelligent voice assistant. The SUV also comes with a panoramic sunroof, adding to its premium feel.

Safety and Technology

Safety is a priority for the MG HS, which has a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. It includes Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as Intelligent Cruise Control, Automated Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keep Assist. The SUV also features a 360-degree HD camera, parking sensors, and up to six airbags.

Furthermore, the HS incorporates MG Pilot, the brand’s suite of safety and driver assistance systems, offering enhanced driver confidence and road safety.

MG HS Market Availability

The new MG SUV is available across the GCC, Iraq, and Jordan, with prices starting at USD 21,600 (excluding VAT). The SUV is designed to cater to younger buyers who value style, performance, and a connected driving experience.

MG Motor has indicated that the decision not to launch the MG HS in India is due to strategic market considerations and the focus on other models tailored to the Indian market. Nevertheless, the MG HS remains a significant part of MG Motor’s global strategy to strengthen its presence in key markets.
