MG Motor India will train 10,000 chauffeurs by March 2022

MG Motor India has unveiled its ‘Saarthi Program’ initiative to train the chauffeurs hired by MG customers. MG has partnered with the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) to certify its ‘Saarthi Program’. The program aims to teach chauffeurs the advanced technologies and high-tech features offered on the latest MG vehicles. The initiative aims to provide an enhanced, smarter, and safer driving experience for the chauffeur and the customer. Customers can sign-up their chauffeurs for the program via MG’s website for free.

Connected, Autonomous, Shared and Electric

The automaker aims to train around 1,000 chauffeurs in the next two months and 10,000 by March 2022. The training on offer includes practical and theoretical lessons on advanced technologies offered on MG vehicles under its CASE vision. The program will also include teachings related to the latest developments in safe vehicle operations and road safety techniques. Over the years, MG has utilized its Connected, Autonomous, Shared, and Electric (CASE) vision to drive itself forward.

MG’s most sold SUV, the Hector, has received a price hike of INR 50,000 on its dual-tone Sharp variant. Launched at the beginning of 2021, the MG Hector had a starting price of INR 12.90 lakh ex-showroom. Over the months, the brand has gradually increased the ex-showroom price of the SUV thanks to increased input production costs. Other factors for the price increase are due to the current cost of shipping thanks to petrol and diesel prices.

The MG Hector SUV currently sports a price tag of INR 13.49 lakh ex-showroom. Hector’s Sharp and Smart trims have received a hike of INR 8,000 based on the information by sources. Reportedly, the price hike is also set to affect the brand’s Hector Plus and the Gloster SUVs. Powering the Hector is a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 143 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque.

Paired to either a 6-speed manual or CVT transmission, MG also offers the SUV with a diesel engine. The 2.0-litre turbo-diesel motor produces 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque paired to a 6-speed manual. MG offers the Hector with a 10.4-inch vertically-oriented iSmart touchscreen infotainment system and industry-first Hinglish voice commands. The 2021 Hector also gets a Wireless Charging Pad, new ambient lights, new Ventilated Seats, and updated alloy wheels.
