MG Motor India to launch 5 new EV models, rapid expansion & localisation

MG Motor India has laid down its 5-year business roadmap for the Indian market. The aim is to localise its operations specifically to the Indian market. This roadmap mentions various initiatives. This includes localization and the adoption of the latest technology. MG is also increasing the Indian shareholding and enhancing production capacity. With the introduction of new electric vehicles (EVs) MG is also making substantial investments. Through these endeavours, MG Motor India has big aims of contributing towards India’s automotive industry and fulfilling its commitment to the nation’s progress.

More New Products In The Lineup

As part of its 5-year business roadmap, MG Motor has plans to introduce around 4 to 5 new cars. The key focus area is EV models. The plan is to achieve 65-75 per cent of its sales from its electric cars by 2028. This bold step reflects upon MG Motor India’s dedication to reducing carbon emissions thus promoting a greener future for India. By providing a diverse range of electric vehicles, the MG also aims at catering to the evolving needs and preferences of Indian consumers. MG is spearheading the EV journey on the MG ZS EV’s success. And now with the most recent launch of its 2-door smart urban car MG Comet EV.

Second Manufacturing Plant For MG

Given its growth plans, MG Motor India also intends to establish a second manufacturing facility in Gujarat. This expansion will help MG Motor India to significantly upscale its combined production capacity. With the addition of the new plant/production capacity, MG’s production output will rise from the current 1,20,000 vehicles to an impressive 3,00,000 units annually. This expansion further reflects MG Motor India’s commitment to meet the rising demand for its vehicles.

Local Sourcing And Manufacturing Is The Key

MG Motor India also envisions a future where local sourcing and manufacturing play important roles in its operations. The company has targets to achieve this vision by extensively collaborating with Indian suppliers and manufacturers. This will further enhance the indigenization of its vehicles.
