Of all the launches, across the globe, some of the most popular colour choices for SUVs are Black, White, Silver and Grey. And among these, black and white are the most preferred for SUVs. For the Indian market as well, several OEMs have launched their version of ‘Dark’ editions of their SUVs. And now the trend continues with MG Motor as well. They have introduced the Gloster Blackstorm variant. The term ‘Blackstorm’ brings in more exciting vibes. MG Gloster Blackstorm’s key focus is on achieving a stealthier profile. MG achieves so by combining a high-contrast combo of black and red. The theme has been carried forward to the interiors as well.
MG Gloster Blackstorm is primarily a cosmetic upgrade and thus much of the hardware is the same as that of the standard variant. We know that MG Gloster Blackstorm is essentially a dark edition. But it does get two distinctive shades of Metal Black and Metal Ash. The former is a glossy black shade, meanwhile, the latter is a dark grey shade in a matte finish. The second option is best suited for folks who may find the glossy black exteriors a bit too overbearing. The red treatment is shared across both colour shades.
We can see red treatment on the headlamps, front and rear bumper, brake callipers and rear-view mirrors. Across exteriors, we can see much of the chrome bits with the standard variant have been blacked out. This includes the front grille and alloy wheels. For the rear, ‘GLOSTER’ and ‘Internet Inside’ badging gets a blacked-out treatment. This ensures a greater emphasis on the Blackstorm theme. On the inside, MG Gloster Blackstorm benefits from a black theme with red and silver accents. As mentioned, there are no upgrades in features or performance.
Thus it continues with two engine options. These are namely, 2,0-litre turbo diesel and a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel. The turbo unit belts out 161 PS and 373.5 Nm. Meanwhile, the twin-turbo makes 215.5 PS and 478.5 Nm. Both engines come equipped with an 8AT gearbox. The SUV also benefits from a 4×4 system, with 7 terrain modes. Based on the driving conditions, drivers can choose from Snow, Sand, Mud, Rock, Sports, Auto and Eco terrain modes.
MG Gloster also gets advanced security features including ADAS. Autonomous Level-1 features. This includes blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic parking assist, lane change assist, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert and door open warning.
