MG Motor India’s retail sales report for the month of December 2022 is out. The company recorded a total sales of 3,899 units. This translates to a 53 per cent growth over the corresponding figures for December 2021. MG again reflected upon the twin challenges of the pandemic. These presented by logistical headwinds have had an impact on production. But going forward for the coming month, MG is expected to see an improvement across many of these parameters.
MG continues its efforts by the manufacturer to foster EV adoption in India. The company has continued this in the form of multiple industry partnerships such as those for charging Station installations with JioBP and BPCL. As of now, a total of 150 chargers have been installed across the country. This forms a major part of MG’s drive to support the EV infrastructure in India.
ZS EV, MG’s electric vehicle offering, sales recorded a growth of more than 60 per cent during this year. This is an encouraging sign of the acceptance of MG’s e-mobility focus. The performance of the Advanced Gloster launched earlier this year, has also been healthy in the market.
MG Motor India’s state-of-the-art manufacturing unit is in Halol, Gujarat. This facility has an annual production capacity of 125,000 vehicles and employs nearly 2,500 workers.
The story of MG in India has been quite a roller coaster ride. To date, the company has introduced several ‘firsts’ in India. This includes India’s first Internet SUV – MG Hector. Then we had, India’s first Pure Electric Internet SUV – MG ZS EV. And India’s first Autonomous (Level 1) Premium SUV – MG Gloster. Finally, we got MG Astor- India’s first SUV with a personal AI assistant and Autonomous (Level 2) technology. Driven by MG’s vision of CASE (Connected, Autonomous, Shared, and Electric) mobility, the cutting-edge automaker has augmented across-the-board ‘experiences’ within the automobile segment of today.
