MG Motor India announces its sales report for October 2021. The company sold a total of 2,863 units for the given month. MG mentioned that production is low due to the global semiconductor chip shortage. This is also affecting the sales of new models as the dealerships now have limited stocks. The festive season is pushing the sales momentum, as evident from the fact that MG received more than 4,000 bookings for Hector and more than 600 bookings for ZS EV and Gloster in October.
In fact, the newly launched Astor is also receiving quite positive feedback from the customers. Astor sold out for 2021 within 20 minutes of opening the bookings suggests how much the vehicle is in demand. MG mentioned that the global chip shortage will continue through November and December. And reports that this will only get better at around Q1 next year. We could soon see the latest MG ZS EV sometime next year, which has already hit the international market.
Ever since the rumours of Astor hit the internet, there was a lot of hype around it. And with the Astor currently on roads, we can safely say that the car has lived up to the expectations. As mentioned, the lot for 2021 is completely sold out. MG delivered the first batch of 500 units on the day of Dhanteras. The target is to deliver 4,000 to 5,000 vehicles by the end of December 2021.
Starting at INR 9.78 lakh (ex-showroom), Astor gets multiple powertrain options. To sum up, customers will have the choice of either a naturally aspirated or turbocharged engine, both in petrol. For the convenience of customers, MG is offering a manual as well as an automatic gearbox option. Another USP of the Astor is its host of features backed by AI and introducing us with the term Car-As-A-Platform.
