MG Motor India sold 2,565 cars in April 2021

MG Motor India releases its sales figure for the month of April 2021. The company mentions that it sold a total of 2,565 units for the given month. Given the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the country, there’s a dip in the sales figure. The disruption caused due to sudden lockdown increased the gap between retailers and customers.  The company mentions that they are having an order backlog of over 3 months. Currently, there is no stock at its Gujarat plant either, thus pushing the delivery dates further. For the month of May as well, the situation will remain the same as the cases keep on increasing.

MG Motor Shuts Down Its Manufacturing Plant

In order to curb the spread of the CoronaVirus, MG Motor decided to temporarily close its Halol manufacturing plant. The brand has decided to close the plant for seven days which will help conserve industrial oxygen. This surplus oxygen can then be diverted to the healthcare sector. The carmaker made a new partnership with Devnandan Gases Pvt. Ltd. to help increase the production of oxygen. Currently, the oxygen production increased to 15 per cent per hour and MG plans to increase it to 50 per cent soon.

MG Sewa is the brand’s community serving society. Under this, MG is providing a host of COVID related services. The carmaker is providing lunch to families of the GMERS Hospital in Vadodara along with providing MG Hector to operate as ambulances. MG is also taking the utmost care of its employees by importing oxygen concentrators for the affected family members.

Hector Propelling MG’s Sales Figure

MG updated Hector at the start of this year. The changes include both the interiors and exteriors. The key factor of why Hector is selling in huge numbers is its value for money proposition and its connected tech features. ZS EV is also selling in good numbers. There are rumours suggesting that MG is working on increasing the driving range of the ZS EV by 500 km. The British car manufacturer will soon launch the petrol version of the ZS. Though, chances are the car will not be named ZS and reports suggest that the car will be named Astor.
