Every car manufacturer is doing their bit to help the government and authorities to fight the Covid-19 Pandemic. MG Motor India has taken several initiatives for this cause, and now, the brand has modified one Hector SUV as an ambulance. The MG Hector is the brands 5-seater SUV, and the first car to be launched in India. This MG Hector ambulance was donated to healthcare authorities in Vadodara, Gujarat for the need to transport patients. MG Motor India reveals that all this retrofitting was done within 10 days and development was managed by the brands engineering team at Halol.
MG Motor India has developed this Hector-based ambulance in partnership with Natraj Motor Body Builders who are based in Ahmedabad. The MG Hector Ambulance features an imported auto loading stretcher for patients, an oxygen cylinder, rearward facing jump seat for the attendant which is the rear seat reused to save costs, storage cabinet for medicines along with a monitor for 5 parameters, inverter equipped with battery and plugs / sockets, other key medical equipment, internal lights and top light bar, siren with amplifier and fire extinguisher for emergency.
MG Motor India has already donated 100 units of the Hector SUV for the frontline warriors fighting Covid-19, along with drivers. Free of cost. The brand is also evaluating cabin sterilization technology for the safety of passengers. This new Hector ambulance also showcases the versatility of the SUV and how it can meet the changing needs, even during an emergency.
MG Motor India at the Auto Expo 2020 revealed the Hector Plus which will be launched soon. The Hector has already moved to meet the BS6 emission norms and rivals other SUVs in the price range which include Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, etc. The Hector is sold with petrol and diesel engine options, and currently is a 5-seater model.
