MG Motor India is planning to introduce a new electric vehicle in the Indian market. According to spyshots, a crossover SUV with Intelligent CUV branding on its side has been spotted road testing in India. The CUV suffix is likely to be Crossover Utility Vehicle, which the brand is likely to launch here in the Indian market. The Intelligent CUV is likely to slot in above the MG ZS EV which is the current flagship EV in the MG portfolio and one of two cars, the other being the MG Comet EV. But what is this new Intelligent CUV?
Looking at the profile of the spied vehicle, the upcoming spied MG electric vehicle is likely to be the MG Cloud EV. The MG Cloud EV is also sold as the Baojun Yunduo in China and under the Wuling Cloud name in the Indonesian as well as other markets. However, MG Motor India is likely to use the Excelor EV name for the Cloud EV when it makes its debut here as the brand in the recent past filed patents for this name at the Indian intellectual property office. The side profile of the Intelligent CUV matched quite well with the MG Cloud EV. The charging port door on the front fender, the sloping front windshield and the rear apron all have the similar silhouette as the MG Cloud EV.
The MG Intelligent CUV is likely to come with a 50.6 kWh battery pack which is likely to offer a range of up to 450 km on a single charge. The brand is also likely to offer the EV with fast charging for a quick turn around. In addition to this, the Intelligent CUV is also likely to come with features such as a Level2 ADAS, multiple airbags, blind spot cameras and a large infotainment display along with a fully digital instruments panel. Expect, the MG Intelligent CUV to break cover in a few months with its market launch around this festive season.
