MG Motor India could be planning to launch the facelift version of the MG Hector in the Indian market. The mild facelift is expected to be introduced in January 2021 and the SUV has been spotted in the undisguised form giving us a glimpse of what to expect from the 2021 MG Hector.
For starters, the facelift model gets a new radiator grille but the high mounted daytime running lamps, the bumper-mounted headlamps, the angular bumpers all remain the same. The SUV features a horizontally slated grille and carries over the chrome accents on the front fascia. The new MG Hector is also expected to come with a new 5-spoke design dual-tone alloy wheels which could be upsized from the earlier 17-inch to 18-inches. On the inside, the facelift model is expected to feature a dual-tone dashboard but the design is likely to remain the same. The equipment is also expected to be carried over from the current model with some additions to the infotainment system and updates to the materials.
The facelift MG Hector is expected to be powered by a BS6 emission compliant 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 143 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque available in a manual gearbox. The Hector also comes powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual transmission option. In the facelift avatar, the MG Hector is also expected to come with an automatic gearbox on the non-mild hybrid petrol variant.
MG in the past also revealed that the brand would be exporting the Hector to select international markets such as Nepal and Sri Lanka. The facelift model is also likely to make it these market in the near future. The mild facelift could also be a differentiator from the one that is sold in the Indian market.
