MG Hector sold out for 2019, bookings stopped thanks to huge response

British Heritage brand MG Motors, short for Morris Garages, has just announced that the bookings for the MG Hector, the brand’s first car in the Indian market which is also the country first ‘Internet Car’ has received a remarkable response and the company has temporarily closed the bookings, since it began on 4th of June, 2019. 

The brand has already received 21,000 bookings for the MG Hector and the brand will be gradually increasing the production capacity over the next few months. The brand plans to achieve a production capacity of 3,000 units per month, by October 2019, from its Halol production facility in Gujarat. 

The MG Hector comes in four variant options – Style, Super, Smart and Sharp, out of which the top two variants have registered the highest demand. 

The MG Hector is powered by three engine options:- a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine which produces 143 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque available in a manual gearbox as well as an automatic DCT (dual clutch transmission), a 1.5-litre turbocharged and intercooled, petrol, mild-hybrid with belt starter generator that produces 143 PS of power and 25 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox which features a 48V Mild-Hybrid system with a lithium-ion battery along with regenerative braking capabilities, auto start/stop and 20 Nm E-Boost capabilities and lastly, a 2.0-litre diesel engine which produces 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

Out of the two fuel variants the petrol engine variant has registered more than 50% demand. 

On the exterior, the MG Hector comes with LED headlights, LED taillights, LED daytime runnning lights, chrome grille, shark-fin antenna, machine-cut alloy wheels etc. and comes in five colour options:-

  • Candy White
  • Starry Black
  • Aurora Silver
  • Burgandy Red
  • Glaze Red

The interior highlights of the MG Hector are a vertically-oriented 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with voice control and artificial intelligence, 7-inch coloured MID, leather seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, 8 ambient colour lighting, flat foldable second row seats, rain sensing wiper, powered tailgate, dual pane panoramic sunroof, cruise control and more.

The brand has also ensured that the date of re-opening of bookings will be announced soon.
