MG Hector exchanged with Hector Plus for 95% resale value

When buying a motor vehicle most customers look at the features, engine performance, comfort and convenience, size and mileage. But some key points that only a few look at is the total cost of ownership which includes maintenance cost and various warranties. One important aspect which is sometimes ignored is the residual value or resale value.

Research shows that in this new generation where more young minds have started to purchase vehicles do not use the same vehicle for a long period of time. In fact, clients who earn more spend more leading to a reduced ownership life span of the vehicle. In such cases the high resale value of the vehicle plays an important role at the time of purchasing a new vehicle, to minimise the losses due to depreciated value.

According to sources, an MG customer who exchanged the MG Hector SUV for a new MG Hector Plus SUV retained 95% residual value on the one-year-old vehicle. The MG customer upgraded from Hector Smart DCT (5-seater) variant to the new MG Hector Plus Sharp top-of-the-line variant by paying only about INR 3 lakh on the ex-showroom price. The MG customer got INR 15.60 lakh for the one-year-old Hector which is more value than what the car was purchased at the time of its launch.

The MG Hector Plus in the Sharp trim is powered by a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that makes 143 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque paired to a DCT gearbox and another option of a 6-speed manual which is offered with a Belt Starter Generator mild-hybrid system. The Hector Plus is also available in the 2.0-litre Turbo-Diesel motor that produces 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

While the Hector Smart DCT is priced at INR 16,41,800 ex-showroom, India the Hector Plus Sharp DCT variant is priced at INR 18,79,800 ex-showroom, Delhi.
