MG Gloster premium SUV price increased by INR 80,000

MG’s flagship SUV the Gloster has seen another price hike in the Indian market. The brand launched the MG Gloster SUV in October 2020 at the introductory prices of INR 28.98 lakh ex-showroom. The price was increased after the brand acquired 2,000 bookings for the Gloster. Now the price of the Gloster has gone up once again. This time the SUV is dearer by INR 50,000 to INR 80,000 across the range except for the entry-level model whose price remains unchanged.

MG Gloster Price Hike

The MG Gloster SUV is available in five variants – Super, Smart, Sharp 7-seater, Sharp 6-seater and Savvy 6-seater. While the entry-level Super 7-seater is priced INR 29.98 lakh ex-showroom. The Smart 6-seater now comes at the price of INR 31.98 lakh ex-showroom which is INR 50,000 more expensive than before. The Sharp 7-seater and 6-seater now come with a price tag of INR 35.38 lakh ex-showroom which is INR 70,000 more expensive than before. But the highest affected price is for the Savvy 6-seater trim, which is not INR 80,000 more expensive than before.

MG Gloster Size and Engine Specifications

The brand flagship SUV measures 4985mm in length, 1926mm in width, 1867mm in height and 2950mm wheelbase. To put things into perspective, the Toyota Fortuner measures 4795 mm in length, 1855 mm in width and 1835 mm in height and a 2745 mm wheelbase. The MG Gloster features a 2+3+2 = 7-seat layout as well as 2+2+2 = 6-seat layout.

Powering the MG Gloster SUV are two engine options depending on the variant. A BS6 complaint 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder Twin-Turbocharged diesel engine. The mono scroll turbo engine produces 163 PS of power and 375 Nm of torque and comes with a 4×2 driveline. The twin-turbo engine makes 218 PS of power and 480 Nm of torque and comes with a 4×4 driveline. Both engines come with 8-speed automatic transmission.
