MG Comet will deliver 230 km range, 100% charging in 7 hours

MG Motor India is all set to launch their new smart urban mobility electric vehicle, the Comet. This all-new small & smart EV will have no direct rival as of date in the Indian market, but potential customers could possible also consider the Tata Tiago EV. The MG Comet EV although small in size, is promising a reasonable range for your urban commutes. This should make it an ideal smart & modern city car, especially in congested areas.

MG Comet EV Specifications

MG Comet EV will be offered with a 17.3 kWh batteri pack with a type 2 charging cable. This batter will take 7 hours for a full charge from 0-100% on a 3.3 kW charger and 10-80% would take roughly 5 hours on the same setup. Matched to an automatic gearbox, offering a 2 pedal drive, this would be an easy to drive city car for sure. MG Motor India is claiming a range of 230 km on a single charge with the Comet EV. The battery will be coupled to a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 42 PS of peak power and 110 Nm of peak torque.

MG Comet EV will measure 2974mm in length, 1505mm in width, 1640mm in height, 2010mm in wheelbase and will have a 4.2m turning radius. This small car will run on 145/70/R12 tyres with a disc brake at the front and a drum setup at the rear. Suspension duty will be performed by a McPherson strut over the front wheels and a multi-link coil at the back.

MG Comet EV Customisation

Now this is a car unlike any other in the Indian market. And to make it stand out even further, MG Motor India would offer customisation decal packs. Not that they would suit everyone’s taste, but you will get different sticker & decals set for different body colour options.

MG Comet EV will be loaded with all the latest features on the inside & outside along with the basic mandatory safety features too. What the Tata Nano could not do in the internal combustion engine era, we seriously hope MG Motor India can do it with the Comet EV, especially in big cities like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore where traffic is a huge concern. In such areas, an EV with such compact dimensions would really make life easier.
